Maybe it was the perfect day...
His eyes lit up. He said, "I can make the sign to tell everyone we are open."
I knew it was a hit. So my mind started back into planning mode - well let's be honest DREAM mode.
I thought and thought about how it would be designed, what books we would get, how many classes we could have each week.
And then - REALITY.
Monday morning I called the real estate agent and she told me the rent. WA WA WAA (you really need to hear it)
So I decided to scale it down...
Let's do a test. I have a friend's location that could be a perfect fit [checking with her on status of availability] and then I thought of what are the perfect books to work with in a test Mommy & Me book club. And all roads led to Barefoot Books. I dabbled with Barefoot Books (BB) before when I was planning The Book Nook Center in 2010.
I reached out to BB and was contacted by an Ambassador that made a connection. Maybe that was the missing piece last time. Well let me tell you her friendly emails and kind conversation had me feeling I can do this. Oh let me introduce - Sharon NDiaye! (check out her page on FB)
We had a great conversation and I spoke to my lil partner about the opportunity to test the program. Although, very disappointed we couldn't get the store. He is excited to help with creating the crafts. So we did the "plunge" and shoot for the moon. We joined the BB Ambassador program.
Yes, I am an Ambassador for Barefoot Books. Check out my page.
My Kick-start is on the way and I have been introduced to a great support team.
We are still waiting on confirmation of the space. And I am still dabbling with the name but I think The Book Nook Place - might be a winner.
Any thoughts on some fabulous names? [submit your comments and if we select yours I promise a special prize]
